Method 2: Disable EFS By Changing Registry Editors to Disable the Windows File Encryption (EFS)

STEP 1: First of all press WIN+R keys together to head to the Run dialog box. When it opens up, here type in regedit and hit the enter key.

STEP 2: Simply the Registry Editor window opens up. Though as next, navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\EFS

Just refer to the following screenshot & confirm the path is right. See for an entry named EfsConfiguration in the right window pane corresponding to the EFS key. Whether there is no such entry, next you must right click anywhere on the right window pane. Tap on New and then on DWORD (32-bit) Value.

STEP 3: Now name the currently created DWORD value as EfsConfiguration.

STEP 4: Simply double click on the currently created DWORD to edit its Value data. In order to disable the EFS feature, enter 1 in the Value data field as displayed in the following screenshot.

STEP 5: In order tenable the EFS feature, simply enter 0 in the Value data field as shown.

Method 3: Turn Off the EFS Using Services to Disable the Windows File Encryption (EFS)

STEP 1: First of all, press WIN+R keys together to head to the Run dialog box. Though when it opens up, so then type in services.msc and hit the enter key.

STEP 2: Here a new window named Services opens up. Dropdown & find the entry by the name Encrypting File System (EFS).

STEP 3: Now you should double click on the Encrypting File System (EFS) entry. Select Disabled from the Scroll down menu which is associated with the Startup type option. Here hit on Apply and next on OK buttons. That’s all now.
